Community Shield Match - MU vs Chelsea

I wasn't in KL when the match was played, but I sure did catch it live. The game started well with quick exchanges on both sides. Very soon United went ahead with Nani drilling into the corner past Cech, and United certainly seemed poised to extend their lead on multiple occassions in the first half. Still, a certain Ben Foster looked shaky throughout the half. I was wishing Ferguson would bring Kuszczak on for the second half, but that didn't happen. Anyway, Foster's fumbles cost United the lead, and almost the match if not for Rooney's classy finish at the final whistle. He shouldn't have had to let in Chelsea's second though.. Mr. Foy deserves to be sacked for his countless blunders, none greater than failing to blow the whistle for a clear foul on Evra (which of course lead to the 2nd goal). Ok I'm gonna spare my arteries the blood pressure and not delve any further into that.. With Mr. Foster in goal United were never gonna win on penalties, and they've thrown it away at the very end once again after losing the Audi Cup to Bayern last week in similar fashion.

Conclusion - the United team looks good enough for the Premiership (certainly not the Champions League), and I feel rather than trying to fill in the void left by Ronaldo and Tevez, we really should focus on finding a replacement for van der Sar; and it's certainly not Foster at the moment. Of course the right flank is quite suspect as well, but that's not of immediate concern with the Dutch custodian out for the next few weeks..
