St. Patrick's Day 2010

Green was the color as Chicago, along with Irish populations all over the world celebrated St. Patrick's Day weekend. Now, the actual St. Patrick's Day is to fall on the 17th of March every year, yet given the fact that it falls on a weekday this year, celebrations were brought forward to the weekend before. On that wet, yet lively Saturday morning - Chicagoans from all corners gathered along the downtown portion of the Chicago River to witness the city coloring it green. Now this certainly was not my first St. Paddy's experience, but the only other time I had actually been to the river-dyeing event was during my first few months here in Chicago when I was still, quite frankly fresh off the boat..

Anyway, this time around Kwong Hann and I grabbed our big-arse cameras (well less so in my case.. lol) and headed downtown to witness a once-in-a-year event. The weather did threaten to play spoilsport, yet there never really was a droplet big enough to create a splash that morning. As we got there, the river banks and bridges were crammed with people, not to mention the cops on the bridges who refused to allow people to stop, let alone take photographs. it wasn't too long though before Kwong Hann and I found a nice spot along the river from where we clicked away. After that we decided to grab lunch before heading over to catch the parade, or at the very least what we could see of it. Regardless, here are some shots from what could really be the last time I celebrate St. Paddy's Day in Chicago..
