I guess I've been so caught up with school and my priorities here that I've gotten quite behind with regards to the ongoings back home in Malaysia. Suddenly I felt guilty of "just ceasing to care." Still I figured I'd just catch up with everything in due time.. after all, I'll be home come summer! Woot woot! Today I was browsing through Soccernet like I usually do. On a side note, sometimes I think I'm a little too addicted to sports news.. oh well, can't help it coz even as a kid I always began reading the newspaper from the back up to the comics section in the middle.. and stop! :p
Anyway, one of the article titles (top of the 'Global' section) caught my attention - "Malaysian club hit with season-long home ban." Interesting. I figured it must have been for horrible pitch conditions, financial reasons etc, although a season-long ban sounds a little harsh for those reasons. Anyway, as I read I learnt the club in question was Kelantan F.C (wow.. what are the odds).. and the reason for the ban? FREQUENT FAN VIOLENCE! Quote from the article: "..several vehicles were damaged while a police four-wheel drive was overturned and set ablaze." Holy crap! Now I know it happens in football games around the world, but in Malaysia? Heck I looked up 'Football Hooliganism' under Wikipedia, and Malaysia wasn't even on the list of countries.. Guess they might as well add it now. *Sigh*
Oh and about the recent change at the political helm.. I never really liked the guy way back since he was the Education Minister, but I figure.. Yea, lets cut the guy some slack and give him a little time before passing comments or judgements.. *fingers-crossed?*
... And there ya go (ala my P. Chem lecturer, Dr. Cage :p ), that's proof that I still care about the stuff that goes on back home. Heh. Back to the cozy little shire I've built around myself in Chicago... with my buddies, ISO, 19 credit hours and an unwanted guest called Thermodynamics.. Oh well, can't ask for too much.
Ta!
